As we close out the first quarter of 2022, we want to share some of the new and updated health equity resources that are helping us understand and address health equity. This is not an exhaustive list. CMS Innovation Center Strategy Refresh (PDF)
This white paper provides a comprehensive summary of CMS’s efforts at driving equitable health outcomes through high-quality, affordable, and person-centered care. This refresh recognizes the shortfalls of current innovation models and the consequences resulting from a lack of focus on diversity and equity. The refresh provides a path to a systematic evaluation of innovation models to capture, measure, and monitor performance with an equity lens.

National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) Health Equity
The organization released new updates and resources including equity statics, program frameworks for multiple stakeholders, resource guides, and research.
Kaiser Family Foundation (KFF): Medicaid and Racial Health Equity issue brief
This resource includes information on health coverage variations by race and ethnicity, ways in which Medicaid can help reduce racial health disparities, and critical issues to watch over 2022 including: impacts to access and health disparities following the end of the COVID-19 public health emergency; the potential passage of Build Back Better Act (BBBA) related provisions; ongoing administrative actions; and impacts and engagement with organizations outside of the healthcare system.
McKinsey and Company—Health Equity: A framework for the epidemiology of care
The consulting firm delivers health equity guidance and an engagement framework for pharmaceutical and life sciences companies. They provide a virtuous cycle explanation for investments in health equity that provides a path to driving better data, more precise inquiries, and greater engagement with more people, which ultimately delivers better data.

The organization continuously updates measures and datasets to reflect and support a patient-centered assessment of quality that should be prioritized for adoption in value-based purchasing and Alternate Payment Models (APMs).
